P J Mammen presently,  is the  Director & Chief Operating Officer of Saraf Hotels Ltd , one of South Asia’s premier hotels group with pan India operations.  Saraf Hotels has 12 properties spread across India and Nepal, out of which 9 hotels are operating under the Hyatt brand. With the addition of 3 upcoming hotels, the company is poised to expand its operations.   Wielding a portfolio of 3400 rooms, 40 restaurants, 300,000 sq ft Meeting & Convention space and 5000+ employees, Mammen delivers executive leadership and spearheads the strategic operations for transforming the company’s bottom-line and organic growth.

Prior to joining Saraf Hotels, Mammen  was the Chief Operating Officer and Director on board for various Mfar Hotels & Resorts companies in Srl Lanka, Maldives & India, shouldering the mandate to revamp and scale up the operations of Mfar Hotel & Resorts. During his tenure, PJ Mammen played the key role in developing Westin – Chennai and Hormuz Grand – a Quorvus collection Hotel – Muscat, from concepts to completion as well as renovating Le Meridien Hotel & Convention centre – Cochin. Assuming full P/L and quality assurance responsibilities, he along with his team of operational heads successfully positioned, promoted & managed 3 upper upscale hotels viz, Le Meridien Hotel & Convention Centre – Cochin, Westin – Chennai & Hormuz Grand- a Quorvus collection Hotel – Muscat, Oman, in dynamic markets.  Also, identified & acquired land in Sri Lanka and an island in Maldives for the group for further expansion.

P J Mammen embarked on his career journey as a hospitality professional in 1979 with the Taj Group of hotels and grew up in the hierarchy by successfully serving the company at various roles in India and abroad.  Over two decades long stint, he served the Taj Group of hotels as Complex General Manager in 2 of their properties viz, Taj Exotica , Taj Coral Reef Resorts in Maldives and as General Manager of Taj Fisherman’s Cove( Vivanta by Taj – Fisherman’s cove) Chennai, India.

He is a visionary and a dynamic leader who never compromises on professionalism, integrity and human values. He resides in Chennai with his wife and son .His hobbies include travel, food & music.

CAREER MILESTONES

Completed the conversion of a high-end residential apartment cum commercial property into an internationally branded serviced apartment- Fraser’s Suites, with all modern amenities in the central business district of Muscat, as a management consultant.

Conceptualized, developed & launched a 231 room Upper Upscale hotel in Muscat, Oman Negotiated with Carlson Hospitality for Quorvus Collection brand a long-term management contract.

Ideated, developed & launched a 231 room Upper upscale hotel in Chennai, India.Negotiated a long-term management contract with Starwood for a Westin Stabilized operations & achieved number one position in terms of occupancy at 74 % within the 3rd year.

Devised and executed a comprehensive expansion plan for the Taj Lagoon (Taj Exotica), in Maldives.

Negotiated with the government of Maldives to lease another island for the Taj Group and subsequently Launched Taj Coral Reef – an Upscale deluxe resort.

Involved in implementing the key plan drawn by the Le Meridien for the re-launching of 65-acre Upper upscale resort. Drove revenue & income growth to 45% over a one-year period, through improved sales and marketing strategies.

Re-launched a 88-room luxury beach resort, Taj Fisherman’s Cove in Chennai, India. Excelled in Key performance components in the operations such as Guest Experience Index (GEI), Associate Satisfaction Index, and Service Standards.

As Complex General Manager, successfully managed operational and business development position between Radisson GRT – a 101 room Upper upscale business hotel & Radisson Temple Bay – a 64-acre beach resort with 74 rooms. Proactively developed a master plan to re-launch the resort . Directly managed a combined strength of 400+ employees.
